Week Three EOC: "Making Money for Good"

Hand in Hand is one of the many organizations in the world that is a successful for-profit organization that gives partial or full proceeds to third-world countries. “By directly tying charitable donations to the sale of an everyday product, Hand in Hand is able to give soap and clean water to those in need and save lives without depending on a single donation."( http://www.handinhandsoap.com/pages/about-us) For every bar or bottle of soap bought, Hand in Hand donates a bar of soap and a month of clean water to a child in need worldwide. By doing so, Hand in Hand has made a huge impact in third-world countries. I know from personal experience, including my mother’s childhood experiences due to her growing up in Haiti (a third-world country), that preserving water doesn’t last long, and you make do with what you’re given. And with Hand in Hand providing these kind of benefits to people in need around the world makes me happy.

Another charitable for-profit organization would be Baby Teresa. “For each baby outfit purchased on Baby Teresa, an outfit is donated to another child. The company also donates a portion of their accessories sales to provide baby formula in orphanages.” (http://baby-teresa.com/about-us/) By providing extra clothing for orphans, it gives the orphanages one less thing to worry about when finding the right home for those children. The last organization that I will mention will be Roma Boots. “Our Mission: "Giving poverty the boot" by bringing children from around the world hope, love and lasting change through aid and education. For you. For all.” (http://romaboots.com/pages/roma-faqs) Not only does Roma boots donate a pair, they fill it with school supplies to a child in need. Furthering the impact of education for future generations to come. That is something definitely worth while in the long run.

Week Three EOC: "My Demographics"

''Millennials (or Generation Y): The 83 million children of the baby boomers, born between 1977 and 2000.'' (Marketing: An Introduction, 10th Edition; Ch. 3 pg. 73) I was born in 1995, which makes me a Millennial. As a Millennial I share many characteristics that anyone within my age group may most likely have in common to one another. Some examples include being tech savvy, being able to vote in upcoming elections, recovering from the recession caused by Baby Boomers, and so on. Because of the outcomes caused by Baby Boomers, I have had to grow up quite fast and learn ways on how to fix and adjust to current issues in present times.

For example: Because of the recession caused by Baby Boomers, it is up to Millennials to think of solutions to fix the economy, not just nationally, but worldwide. And it doesn’t help that those who caused most of today’s issues try to set you back in the past, not wanting the future to be controlled by upcoming generations, than to let us push forward to a brighter and better future for everyone. Although, recent studies report that, "Twenty years from now, the Baby Boom generation will be dying off rapidly. Yes, it will happen somewhat gradually, but not too gradually." (http://www.fortmorgantimes.com/ci_20010202?source=mostpopular) Once that happens, it is up to Generation X and mainly the Millennials to enact resolutions for the future.

As rude as this may sound, and I do apologize in advance, I’m actually looking forward to this. Reason why, is because all of my life I have had to deal with the nonsense and obstacles that Baby Boomers as a whole have created. Racism and prejudice against people of color, lgbtq+ people, people with disabilities and mental illnesses, basically anyone who doesn’t fit society’s “norm”. As a Millennial, it’s finally our turn to do something for the better of current and future generations, than to be stuck in a horrid black and white past.

Week Two EOC: "Boston Consulting Group - Video Games"

Dozens of trends have gained spotlight in the Video Game Industry over the past few years. Such as the rise of popularity of Indie games, YouTube Gamers and Let’s Plays, with women and people of color adding more diversity to the market. All of these trends have one thing in common:  a mixture between Cash Cows and Stars, referencing the Boston Consulting Group. The reason why I have come to this conclusion is because each trend has a High-Growth, but a Low-Share business. To further explain, I’ll start off with Indie games. “It's important to keep this in mind, as a really good game can be a financial failure if it was done for the wrong platform. (http://www.gamasutra.com/view/feature/132041/the_state_of_indie_gaming.php?print=1 ) Because nowadays Indie games are becoming more accessible to the public, due to the push of Let’s Players, has given independent animators and game developers a growing following to help create more games for the public. Thus allowing the genre to grow, but not have a steady market because of some of the platforms that they used.

Speaking of Let’s Players, their popularity has begun to skyrocket in the last three to five years, creating large communities on YouTube and Twitch. It’s become such a huge deal lately, that YouTube launched a Gaming Stream site for just the gaming community Fall of 2015. "It's like the MTV moment for the music industry--suddenly you have to have something that is enjoyable to watch... specifically aiming their games at YouTuber's."
(http://www.theguardian.com/technology/2015/jul/23/16-trends-that-will-change-the-games-industry) And finally: "... we'd love to see more diversity in the business of video game creation... As awareness grows, I have no doubt we'll see more smart, creative, and innovative woman rising in the industry." (http://www.bigfishgames.com/blog/2015-global-video-game-stats-whos-playing-what-and-why/)  Now that more woman and people of color are speaking up about the lack of diversity after the Gamer Gate incident, the industry is making a change for the better by hiring more female creators, listening to more feedback, and being more open minded to the concept.

Week One EOC: "Great Customer Service"

A great customer experience that I had was back in 2012 for my second anime convention here in Las Vegas. I attended the previous year, being my first con. I had such a blast my first time. Seeing all of the amazing cosplays, meeting my favorite voice actors, attending hilarious panels, and the massive Artist Alley where you could purchase all sorts of merchandise from different fandoms. Since I had such a great time, I wanted to make sure that I would be able to attend the next year.  When you purchase your pass for any convention, you need to buy them online and pre-order if you can. The first time I bought my pass I made sure to pre-order because it was such a reasonable price. As I pre-ordered my pass for the second year, everything was placed and ready to go.

You’re supposed to receive your confirmation email and letter in the mail within a week or two. But after a month of not seeing my letter, even though I had the email to prove I bought it, I called the Head of Registration to sort things out. In the beginning, it was difficult to get in contact with him. Especially due to the cons date closing in. It was understandable, but I was worried I wouldn’t get to go. A few weeks before the con, I received a call from the Head of Registration, explaining to him what had happened and that I had definitely paid for the pass. He reassured me that he would sort everything out, that I had nothing to worry about, and to expect the letter in the mail by the end of the week. True to his word, I received the letter and was able to attend the convention. “Good customer relationship management creates customer delight. In turn, delighted customers remain loyal and talk favorably to others about the company and its products.” (Marketing: An Introduction for Education Management Corporation; Ch. 1 Pg. 21)

Week One EOC: "My Voice"

I am an Animator. Telling stories through my artwork is what I strive for. Around a few years ago, I never imagined myself to be a professional artist, let alone an animator. But by being exposed to the endless possibilities of being able to express my creativity through my art has changed my perspective. Knowing that I can make an impact with my art, whether it is positive or negative, has given me the confidence to pursue further into my field. Character Design, Concept Art, and Illustrating, with 2D and 3D Animation is what I am best at so far. Bringing life to something from nothing is an amazing feeling and experience. I try my best to achieve my goals and further my knowledge and skills so that I may portray my dedication and hard work to the masses. Even if it means that I would work on something for weeks, even months at a time, only to produce even a few minutes of animation. As long as I am able to entertain and bring happiness to those who considered to watch my work, then that is more than enough for me in the time being. I would love to make a difference with not only my art, but with other creative minds to make something new and exciting for future generations.
